How do I set up and use Coursing?

Setting up Coursing:

  1. Open BackOffice.
  2. Click Printers/Coursing.
  3. Select Coursing tab.
  4. Do not forget to read the information printed in black ink about remote printers.
  5. Put a check in the check box for Enable minute course firing.
  6. Add a course group name under the section labeled Coursing Groups.
Example: Course Name: Appetizers with the Priority field and Hold Mins. field blank.
    • Priority is set for what is most important to least important starting with #1 being the most important. If this field is left blank, the item will print first.
Example: Appetizers could be set to nothing, salads to priority of 1, and entrées with a priority of 2.
    • Hold minutes is what you set for how long you would like the item to be held. Appetizers usually have nothing in this field, where as say salads could have a two-minute hold and entrees a five minute hold.
  7. Click in the blank field under Families assigned to coursing.
  8. Select the family you would like to tie to the coursing.
Example: For appetizers would select the appetizer family.
    • You can have multiple families tied to the same coursing group. Example: If you wanted your sandwiches to be considered an entrée, you would just add your sandwiches to the Entrée group.

Note: There is a safety release that you can put on for a certain amount of minutes. For Example: If a server puts an item on hold and forgets to then later fire it, if you put 20 in the Max mins to hold manually (safety release) the item put on hold will fire after 20 minutes.

We have a number of training videos that walk you through the set up and use of SoftTouch's Coursing feature.
